Hi Marc, it would be cool if there would be an option (checkbox) for backing up original image files ( _original). I presume that batch processes would be much faster without writing back-ups. Jürgen Revision 3.14 I have been testing and using this App since the first revision. Marc Rochkind kept improving it and from my point of view it is the best IPTC/EXIF Editor available. (Comparable to "The Godfather" for music collections) This SW helps to get get huge picture collections sorted and under control using self explaining macros etc. Here is my original E-Mail I sent to marc yesterday: " Hi Marc, thank you for the superb work and frequent updates. Bis zum Abend wurde der Preis von 7,99 auf 3,99 reduziert - na toll. Aber mal zum Programm an sich: Negatives: - Die Software kann keine Umlaute verarbeiten - Bearbieten von mehrerern Verzeichnissen nicht möglich - immer nur einzelne Dateien oder markierte Dateien innerhalb eines Verzeichnisses - Keine Stringverarbeiung - z.B. Übernahme von Verzeichnisnamen in Beschreibung des Fotos - auch Copy and Paste von Verzeichnisnamen nicht möglich - Stapelverarbeitung dauert sehr lange (ca. 1 Sekunde pro Bild) - Summa summarum: Sehr rudimentäre EXFIF / IPTC Bearbeitung. Positives: - Intuitiv zu bedienen (Idiotensicher) Jedes Fotoprogramm kann mehr. Empfehlung: Adobe Bridge, Aperture, oder ACDSee

By changing the model exif camera info from my new Nikon Df to Nikon D700. I can now open them in Lighroom 3 and Photoshop CS5. This takes seconds and saved me from upgrading unnessesarilly. best 11$ Ive spent in a very long time. thanks so much!!!

Im very disappointed to buy the app, open it for the first time, and encounter a screen that says -- in big, colorful letters -- "Beta Version, Use with caution!" It doesnt say anything about being a beta version in the description. Epic fail!

Very Nice App. Will written and intuitive to use. Does what it says it will do. Makes editing Exif data very simple and quick. Thanks for providing ExifChanger. I saw nothing about "Beta" when I started the App. Seems like a well tested application to me.

Very straight-forward, easy to use utility. This program does well what it says it will do.

I bought this to read metadata of my photos, which it does very well. I only gave it 3 stars because the shutter speed is displayed in metric, I dont want to convert .0125 to real shutter speed. I know .125 is really 1/8, but what is .0125? I have to guess and then divide my guess into 1 on a calculator to find out, and keep trying until it matches. This is an extra step I did not want to have to take. Please fix this and you get 5 stars.

This is a beta at best - first, it does not work on a fully patched SL iMac. It cannot display any of the existing EXIF data. None whatsoever - no GPS, no EXIF, no IPTC, none. No matter whether you try JPG, PNG, PSD, TIF or RAW files - nothing! You can write, though - you dont know what you overwrite, since you cannot see whats there, but yes, you can write. Useless, even although it keeps a backup copy, just in case it messes up. The tool itself is a GUI for EXIFtool, just in case you are interested. When using the empty Apply suggestion on the developers site, you can see all the metadata in the image, so EXIFtool can read it. But apparently EXIFChanger cannot process the data correctly... Another nit - it does not remember the last folder you visited. So every time you run the app, you start in "/" and have to navigate your way to the pictures folder in your user folder. Bad software design...

I have other programs such as photoshop that can edit & add exif and iptc data, but its much easier to add this info after processing photos. This is especially true when you add or change data later on. With this app you dont have to load & re-save the photo again. This app will let you edit just one photo or many at a time by selecting all photos you want to add fields to & entering it once. One of the best purchases I have made for my photo library. It gets lots of use.

Very easy to use and makes it easy to go back and change the metadata in the files. Had a small issue and the developer response was amazing. Have already and will continue to reocmmend the product!

I purchased this primarily to view metadata, but with the option to change the data. If you want to just view image metadata, use the default Preview program that comes with Mac OS X. Far simpler to use, especially the Geolocation functionality.

I have a bunch of jpgs, all family photos, with the system creation dates all messed up because of moving, syncing, etc. I needed to read the EXIF info to get the proper dates for the images. This utility did exacty what I needed it to do. Its a killer app. Ive been using it 10 minutes, but its already so dead-bang simple that this is going to go in my favorite applications.

Bought this app and found it is great for adding/fixing EXIF data, but I havent figured out how to easily strip EXIF data from my photo - GPS location, camera make and model. It would be nice to see a future version support the following features: - Drag and Drop Privacy preset that strips the photos of all EXIF info and even offers to rename photos with generic numbering so you can truly strip all info out of a photo. - Support for showing GPS Map View in same window as app. Pain to keep pulling up separate view window to see GPS location. - Easier ability to group select and force change EXIF info for a selection of files (ie select a group and change time, GPS info, camera model , etc.) - Ability to identify photos coming from Facebook, Picassa, Photoshop Elements based on added EXIF data (facial tagging) etc. - Ability to detect camera manufacturer based on file naming characteristics (especially useful for tracing where a photo came from, or for early pre-EXIF cameras). - Support for more file types

This appears to be using ExifTool, which I had been using via command-line. But its more than that, it can execute commands that arent just one-liners with ExifTool. So for example it can strip some metadata, while leaving other metadata intact. And it can edit metadata that many other apps dont even let you see. This is a very powerful tool, and easy to use. For future features, Id like to see smart tagging such as date/time offsetting (being able to set the correct date/time with the first image, and having all other images in the set adjust to the date/time correction). Also file naming based on prefix, suffix, and date/time would be awesome (other apps like ExifRenamer do this). Again though, if you have metadata editing needs that no other app can touch, this is the app.

There are a few pieces of data you cant change however this app allows you to batch change much of the data. Its easy to use and creates a backup of your edit as well.

Better apps out there….this is way overpriced for what you get. Very clunky interface. Paid $11 bucks, used it for 5 minutes and deleted it. Would love a refund.

Heres a hint: If youre missing features or find other shortcomings in this app - go to the authors website and look up this app. Youll find that there is a newer version for download. I guess Apples sandbox rules prevent the new version from getting posted here.

I have scanned in thousands of old files, but needed to cahnge the origional picture date and add in the catagory information so that it would be easy to import into iPhoto. There are a ton of EXIF and other setttings in this app. The issue is that they don’t have good discripters on them and no hover over to tell you what they do. So for beginners this will be difficult. I found it took a bit of trial and error on a few test files to get it righ, but once I figured it out, I could set all the file with the standare EXIF data that was all the same, and then go back and specificly edit the group data for each set of negatives as needed. Be aware that it does take a bit of time for the app to go through and update the data. I can see from the report genderated that it is about 3 to 15 sec per file depeniding on how may fields are updated. The program does keep an origional file, so that you can undo the changes, but be aware that this is a full copy, so for me with TIFF scans, this was approx 150 MB per file. That will eat up your disk space fast. The GeoTag feature is nice to have, but keep in mind it is a pure map base corodinate system. Unlike iPhoto or other apps, you can’t search for a spacific location or POI. You will need to navigate the map to the proper location, or endter the coordinates you need. There is an Auto GeoTag time shift feature that makes GMT offset easy, but I ddin’t feel that it was needed. Overall a solid app that does what it says. Great for advanceand users, but should novice users may want to stear clear. After I added the files to iPhoto, I was very pleased. All the EXIF data came right it and it placedd the fiels in the porper groups and date order.

Adding geo location is a real pain in the butt, no way to search for a location. One must open the map and scroll and zoom for what seems like 15 minutes per photo just to get the the desired location. Sure could use a search feature to get me where I want quicker. The rest of the app is okay.

Apple released today the Photo app, to replace the iPhoto, where we could add geotagging to our old pictures, taken with cameras with no GPS. This app was easy to find using Google search, looked promising at the Mac AppStore, but it is a catastrophe for me - opened a interface, which is not ergonomic at all, ease of use is zero. Tried to find support on developer’s site - found noting but pictures of the guy who got my money.
